WIMAAO Martial Arts Debut In Nigeria

It is good news for those who have been looking up to take martial arts as leisure or profession as Gamadev Nigeria Limited in conjunction with Castle Martial Arts Club Limited has brought the art to the doorstep of every Nigerian, young and old for self-defence, physical fitness and healthy living.

The chief executive officer of Gamadev, Ambassador Godstime Atebefia Omadevuae stated this at the flagging off ceremony and press briefing held at the media centre of the National Stadium Abuja.

Omadevuae said he has the endorsement of the World International Martial Arts Association and Organization (WIMAAO) to be the sole promoter of the world martial arts championship in Africa. He added that his organization is out to promote sports that will rival football which is popular among Nigerians.

“We are about to host a historic event for the first time in Africa-Nigeria. The martial arts event hopefully will lead to wider enlightenment of the sport for the benefits of individuals who want to take it professionally or as hobby. While football can only fetch us one medal at international competitions like the Olympics, martial arts can give us many medals,” he said.

The first edition of the national martial arts festival according to him will be hosted in Nigeria from 24 November to 1 December, 2017 at the National Stadium, Lagos. He said a martial arts world academy, the second in the world, has been approved by WIMAAO to be built in Nigeria.

He expressed optimism that martial arts will act as a calming and stabilizing influence for Nigerian youth in a climate filled with temptation and anxiety.
