HOUSE of Representatives
Committee Chairman on
Human Rights, Hon Edward
Pwajok has advocated that
Governor Simon Lalong
of Plateau state should be
supported by his kinsmen to
win his second term in office
during 2019 general elections.
Hon Pwajok, who is
representing Jos South/Jos
East Federal Constituency at
the House of Representatives,
made this plea at Jos South
town hall meeting with
stakeholders with Governor
Simon Lalong who was in the
locality to give an account of
his stewardship in two years to
the people. Pwajok, who was a former
Attorney- General and
Commissioner for Justice in the
state in the last dispensation,
told his constituents that despite
the fact that most of his kinsmen
in Jos South Council voted for
Peoples Democratic Party in
2016 general elections and for
Governor Lalong who won his
election under the platform of
All Progressive Congress , he still
gave the Berom the position of
secretary to the state government
and the position of Commissioner
of Works from Jos South Local
Government area of the state
among several other positions in
his cabinet.
He advised his people to join
the ruling government in the state rather than being in opposition
parties as they stand in getting
appointments even if they lose
at party primaries for elective
positions if the government in the
state is controlled by their party.
Pwajok who said he was one
of those who played critical
roles in opposition during the
era of Senator Joshua Dariye
as Governor of Plateau state
between 1999 to 2007 and noted
that despite the opposition they
gave to Dariye’s government
at that time, Dariye had his two
terms in office.
He added that Senator Jonah
Jang who took over from Dariye
in 2007 had two terms during
which he served for 8 years
uninterrupted by anybody or
group, saying “ Governor Simon
Lalong equally deserve to be
allowed to have his two terms
in office as Governor Lalong
in two years has succeeded in
restoring peace back to the state
and ensured regular payment of
salaries to workers on the Plateau
despite the lean resources that
comes to the state “
Pwajok said he was elected
to serve his people at National
Assembly and has been
performing his legislative
roles very well at the House
of Representatives outside
influencing of projects to his
constituency among others
that would soon unfold during
his constituency meeting with
stakeholders.
He added that power lies with
the people and as such those who have contested all elections and
won nothing in the state should
stop deceiving the people that
they can be a political threat
to him or the government
of Governor Lalong in 2019,
saying the people of his
constituency and the entire
people of the state know their
elected representative to vote
for when the time comes.
Present at the town hall
meeting was the representative
of the state Governor Mr.
Dungs who spoke on behalf
the governor and the Local
Government chairman
Augustine Pwajok who used
the occasion to give account of
his stewardship to the people
of his local government council
among several dignitaries
